    December 9 – Party

Prompt: Party. What social gathering rocked your socks off in 2010? Describe the people, music, food, drink, clothes, shenanigans.

Actually, a couple of weeks ago, we had somewhat of a party in school. The people were actually split evenly (half girls, half boys, and half white people and half minority). And the music that was playing was 90s jams, the food was homemade and delicious (the macaroni and cheese was bangin’), and drinks were had (oh yes).

I think I had three drinks.

I love the people I was with.

    December 8 – Beautifully Different.

Think about what makes you different and what you do that lights people up. Reflect on all the things that make you different – you’ll find they’re what make you beautiful.

    Here’s why I’m different:

I’m a girl. People generally look down upon females even in this day and age. It’s like, we’re not supposed to know anything except cooking, cleaning, and being girly. Hah, WRONG.

I’m an artist. Wait, you’re studying art? What does that even do for you? Shut up, I’m doing something I like and you’re doing something that you hate.

I like boy things. Yeah, I probably know more about video games than you. I know a lot about sports so if you aren’t too busy being perplexed, we could have a real conversation.

I don’t wear makeup. Sorry, but what I lack in skills for applying makeup, I make up for (hah, get it? Make-up?) already naturally looking pretty.

    And other things.

This was a mean post. Ouch.

    December 7 – Community.

Where have you discovered community, online or otherwise, in 2010? What community would you like to join, create or more deeply connect with in 2011?

The spring semester and this current fall semester at school made me realize how much our graphic design major is a little community. Sometimes it’s a family, but it definitely is a community. We have communal items, we share the same coffee, we live on pizza. It’s like The Sims, except in the basement of College Hall. The people I’ve met this year are great, the people I’ve known for a while are awesome, and we graduate in the spring. It will truly suck when we’re all gone from the lab.

    December 6Make.

What was the last thing you made? What materials did you use? Is there something you want to make, but you need to clear some time for it?

As a designer, I make things constantly. The last actual thing that I made was a package for my hypothetical brand, imagine. I was actually proud of the finished outcome because I used recycled materials for it and made it look legit. The invitation carries a blank piece of paper and a marker, and it states that the attendee for imaginefest should create something with the paper and then the attendees will create a mural during the festival.

    I wish the festival existed.

    December 5Let Go.

What (or whom) did you let go of this year? Why?

There were a lot of people that came into my life, but there were a lot of people that left. It may not be the people that I’ve let go of, but I’ve learned to keep my distance. I learned that I should not grow too close to people because any second something can change and I can become disappointed and hurt. People are people, and the ones that I would do anything for are the ones I’ll never let go of.
